The Nipissing University Scholarship route described here is the guaranteed undergraduate entrance award. Eligible international students receive automatic consideration based on their admission grades.
The award reduces tuition costs, but the highest tier is calculated at domestic tuition rates. International students still need a budget for the remaining fees and living expenses.

About Nipissing University
Nipissing University is based in North Bay, Ontario, a city between Lake Nipissing and Trout Lake. Its setting combines university study with access to northern Ontario’s natural surroundings.
The university offers arts, science, business, nursing, social work and education programs. Applicants can compare degree options, subject combinations and delivery formats in its program directory.
Nipissing also provides international student support and academic advising. These services help students navigate enrollment and study planning; they are separate from the financial value of an entrance award.
About the Nipissing University Scholarship
- Conditional scholarship decisions accompany admission offers.
- Final grades are used to review eligibility.
- The assessed average uses the best six qualifying senior courses or the relevant equivalent.
- IB assessment includes bonus points.
- Payments apply to eligible Fall/Winter tuition.
- The award cannot exceed those tuition charges.
- January entrants have special first-payment arrangements.
- Several named Nipissing awards cannot be held simultaneously with this scholarship.

- Commerce as a dual degree with a BA or BSc.
- Computer science.
- Criminal justice.

- Eligible concurrent education combinations.
Consecutive Education, College Partnership Commerce/BBA and Nursing Scholar Practitioner programs are excluded. Professional years do not qualify for renewal. Check your exact program and entry route rather than assuming that every course carrying the same subject name is eligible.
Target group
- Canadian and international applicants entering directly from secondary school.
- Eligible first-year CEGEP entrants under the university’s separate assessment rule.
- Eligible international first-year students entering in the fall or winter.
- Some applicants who delay entry without attending another postsecondary institution, subject to admissions approval.
Transfer awards have separate rules. Previous university or college study should always be declared so that admissions can identify the appropriate funding route.
Scholarship benefits
The guaranteed entrance scholarship rules publish these annual tiers:
- 95% or above, or IB 39+: a tuition award based on the domestic rate.
- 90–94%, or IB 36–38: CAD 2,500.
- 85–89%, or IB 33–35: CAD 1,500.
- 80–84%, or IB 30–32: CAD 1,000.
The scheme does not promise separate housing, meal, travel, insurance or language-course funding. Compare the confirmed award with your actual international tuition bill before deciding how much additional funding you need.
Scholarship duration
- BA, BSc, BBA, BFA, Bachelor of Community Planning and Bachelor of Physical and Health Education routes: support is limited to the first four undergraduate years while eligible enrollment continues.
- BScN: an eligible undergraduate route follows the same four-year maximum; the Nursing Scholar Practitioner route is excluded.
- BSW: professional years are excluded from renewal.
- Concurrent undergraduate/BEd study: the first four undergraduate years may qualify; later professional education years do not.
Renewal uses cumulative GPA and requires at least 24 Fall/Winter credits annually. Lower results can move a student down a tier, but students cannot move up; a cumulative GPA below 80% ends eligibility permanently under the published rules.

Frequently asked questions
Does the top tier cover all international tuition?
No. It uses the domestic tuition rate, so an international student can still have tuition charges to pay.
Is an additional scholarship essay required?
Guaranteed entrance consideration is automatic. Other awards can have their own application requirements.
Can I use the same English score for nursing and other degrees?
No. Nursing has a higher published language standard. Check the requirement for your exact program.
Does the undergraduate award fund a master’s or PhD?
No. Graduate funding and the separate Schulich opportunities have their own eligibility and assessment arrangements.
